Study Fashion Design in Italy – Raffles Milano Fashion Degree

Study fashion in Milan through an English-taught, three-year Fashion Degree with study paths in Fashion Design, Jewellery and Accessories Design, and Fashion Communication and Marketing.

Raffles Milano offers a bachelor-equivalent Fashion Degree for international students who want to study in one of the world’s strongest fashion and design cities. Milan is part of the learning experience itself: fashion houses, showrooms, design studios, exhibitions, Milan Fashion Week, creative agencies, luxury brands, and international professionals are part of the city’s everyday rhythm.

Milan Fashion Design Programs at Raffles, PRODIREKT

The program is practical, project-based, and interdisciplinary. Students work with teachers who are active professionals and are encouraged to develop their own creative direction while learning how the fashion industry works in real life. Raffles Milano also supports students through personal branding, portfolio development, career preparation, internship opportunities, and events such as Portfolio Night, where graduating students present their work to companies and industry professionals.

What Degree Do Students Earn?

The Fashion Degree is part of the Raffles Milano Fashion Area. This area is built around three study paths: Fashion Design, Jewellery and Accessories Design, and Fashion Communication and Marketing.

All students graduate with the officially recognized First-Level Academic Diploma in Fashion Design. This is the academic degree recognized within the Italian AFAM/MUR system and officially recognized as an equivalent bachelor’s degree within the Italian education system.

The qualification is also accredited within the European framework by the European Accreditation Board of Higher Education Schools (EABHES).

In addition, graduates receive a Raffles Certificate connected to their chosen study path: Fashion Design, Jewellery and Accessories Design, or Fashion Communication and Marketing.

Program Overview

The Fashion Degree is designed for students with a high school diploma who want to enter the world of fashion, design, style, communication, and the international creative industries.

Participants begin with the foundations of fashion: shape, materials, visual research, fashion history, contemporary culture, design methodology, and technical development. As the program continues, they build a more personal direction through studio work, specialized modules, workshops, portfolio development, and a final project.

A strong part of the Raffles Milano experience is learning by doing. Students take part in workshops, seminars, interdisciplinary projects, and professional-style briefs. One distinctive format is “72 Hours,” where future designers from different bachelor’s and master’s programs work together on real creative projects, learning how to manage ideas, time, teamwork, pressure, and presentation.

Three Fashion Study Paths

Fashion Design

The Fashion Design path is for students who want to create garments, collections, and a personal design language.

Students work with design research, materials, silhouettes, menswear, womenswear, knitwear, accessories, styling, creative direction, portfolio development, and final collection work. The focus is on moving from idea to collection with creativity, method, technical precision, and visual identity.

Jewellery and Accessories Design

The Jewellery and Accessories Design path is for students interested in wearable objects, accessories, shoes, bags, eyewear, jewelry, and the symbolic value of objects in fashion and personal identity.

The path combines design culture, materials, illustration, 3D modeling, digital tools, jewelry design, accessory design, marketing, and final project development. It is suitable for students who want to work with fashion objects that connect craftsmanship, innovation, function, and style.

Fashion Communication and Marketing

The Fashion Communication and Marketing path is for students who want to work with the image, message, identity, and market presence of fashion brands.

Young creatives study fashion communication, visual culture, publishing, PR, branding, marketing, retail, media, design management, fashion storytelling, sustainability, and integrated media. The path is suitable for students interested in how fashion is presented, promoted, positioned, and understood by the public.

Career Directions

Graduates can move toward different roles depending on their chosen path, portfolio, and personal direction.

Possible career directions include fashion designer, accessory designer, jewelry designer, shoe and bag designer, fashion stylist, fashion illustrator, pattern maker, trend forecaster, art director, press officer, image consultant, fashion blogger, fashion manager, fashion buyer, visual merchandiser, and fashion communication specialist.

The program is also relevant for students who want to work across fashion design, branding, communication, sustainability, retail, creative direction, and the wider fashion business.

Tuition

Tuition depends on the applicant category and individual assessment.

For European Union students, annual undergraduate tuition is based on income brackets and may range from €10,000 to €22,000 per year, depending on ISEEU assessment and eligibility.

For non-European Union students, the annual undergraduate tuition is generally €22,000 per year.

For bachelor-level programs accredited by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, a regional fee of up to €190 may also apply.

The enrollment/admin fee is the first portion of the annual tuition and is paid after admission to secure the place. For European Union applicants, this fee is €2,500. For non-European Union applicants, it is €4,000. The remaining tuition can usually be paid either in one payment or through a payment plan, depending on the confirmed payment conditions.

For the full tuition explanation, payment details, and current scholarship information, see the Tuition and Scholarships section on our main Raffles Milano page: Study Design in Italy – Raffles Milano International Design Institute.

PRODIREKT Advantages and Scholarships

Applicants applying through PRODIREKT and the Verbalists Education & Language Network may have access to special financial advantages arranged through our cooperation with Raffles Education and Raffles Milano.

Promotions for education programs

Other scholarships, early-bird incentives, or profile-based opportunities may also be available depending on timing, portfolio quality, applicant profile, and current school campaigns.

PRODIREKT advisors help families understand which benefits may apply, what documents are required, and how to present the student’s profile clearly and professionally. Full details are available on the main Raffles Milano presentation page.

Application Process

The application process is personal and structured. It is not based on a traditional entrance test. The school wants to understand the applicant’s motivation, academic background, creative interests, English level, and fit for the selected Fashion Degree path.

The first step is to submit the PRODIREKT Application and Terms and Conditions. This allows our academic advisors to review the student’s profile, check current availability, and advise on the best next steps.

After that, PRODIREKT helps with document preparation, including the CV, motivation letter, school transcripts, portfolio if available, and language certificate if available. We also help students prepare for the online interview with Raffles Milano, which is motivational and academic in nature.

If the applicant is accepted, the school provides admission and enrollment documents, payment details, and instructions for confirming the place. Non-European Union applicants also receive guidance on the documentation needed for the visa process after the relevant enrollment steps are completed.

For a more detailed explanation of each stage, see the Admission Process section on our main Raffles Milano page: Study Design in Italy – Raffles Milano International Design Institute.

The wider school presentation is available on the main PRODIREKT Raffles Milano page, including campus details, school highlights, undergraduate study areas, summer academic options, Career Service, Portfolio Night, scholarships, and the full application process.
