German Language School’s tale of growth and triumph; we were part of the incredible 40-year celebration event

Over the span of four decades, the German Language School has experienced remarkable growth, evolving from a solo venture to a thriving organization boasting over 170 dedicated employees. Here is how GLS celebrated this milestone.

07–NOV–2023 | Last evening, we had the privilege of participating in the grand commemoration of GLS’s 40-year journey, marked by continuous expansion. Our partnership of over 15 years with this esteemed German language institution is a testament to its impressive trajectory, and we are honored to have contributed to their milestone anniversary. The festivities were extraordinary, and we are delighted to share some highlights captured in the video below.

Established in 1983 by entrepreneur Barbara Jaeschke, GLS remains under her leadership today, alongside her daughters Dr. Reemda Jaeschke and Dr. Verena Jaeschke.

What began four decades ago as a solo endeavor has blossomed into a thriving enterprise with 170 staff members and a student base exceeding 10,000 from across the globe. Despite facing challenges like the recent COVID-19 pandemic, GLS has demonstrated resilience and growth, serving as a model of successful family succession in a medium-sized, woman-led company.

A pivotal moment in GLS’s history is the creation of the GLS Campus in Berlin. This endeavor involved the acquisition and renovation of a collection of historically significant buildings in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district:

In 2005, GLS acquired and renovated an abandoned school, followed by the restoration of an adjacent bathhouse in 2011, which had remained vacant for three decades. In 2015, after extensive refurbishment, the bathhouse reopened as a hotel, becoming an integral part of the GLS Campus, which also encompasses the GLS Language School featuring 60 seminar rooms. With its exceptional facilities, the GLS Campus has evolved into a venue for international events, photography sessions, and conferences.

The GLS German Language School offers a variety of year-round courses at its Berlin campus, as well as summer camps held at different locations throughout Germany.
