Why this program
This is one of the strongest Bachelor programs for those who want to work at the intersection of business, data, and artificial intelligence.
In today’s market, this combination is not optional — it is where the highest demand is. Companies increasingly look for people who understand business, but can also work with data, digital tools, and AI-driven processes.
Rather than preparing for a single narrow role, the program builds a broad foundation across business informatics, analytics, programming, and digital transformation. This gives more flexibility later — whether moving into business, tech, or data-focused roles.
Most modern roles in business now involve data, digital systems, or AI in some form. This program prepares you for that reality from the start.
What you will study
The curriculum combines business knowledge with technical and analytical skills. Core areas include:
- programming and advanced programming
- big data and analytics
- artificial intelligence
- IT platforms and agile development
- digital transformation
- management, marketing, and finance
From the beginning, both technical and business perspectives are developed in parallel, which reflects how digital roles function in real companies today.
Spotlight: Artificial Intelligence
A key part of the program is understanding how AI creates real business value.
The module introduces concepts such as machine learning, deep learning, and algorithms, and shows how they are used in practice. The emphasis is not only technical, but strategic — how AI supports better decisions, improves efficiency, and enables new business models.
Examples include applications in e-commerce, fintech, Industry 4.0, and data-driven healthcare, helping connect theory with real-world use.

Practical learning and career focus
UE places strong emphasis on applied learning.
Work is based on real projects, case studies, and business scenarios that reflect how companies actually use data and digital tools.
Programming starts early, and ideas are gradually developed into working solutions with guidance from lecturers with industry experience.
In the 5th semester, you can choose between:
- an internship
- a study abroad semester at one of UE’s partner universities
This adds practical or international experience before graduation.
Locations and study environment
The program is offered in Hamburg and at the UE Innovation Hub in Potsdam, near Berlin.
Hamburg is one of Germany’s key business centers, known for logistics, media, and digital industries, with many international companies and career opportunities.
The UE Innovation Hub in Potsdam is located on the SAP “Think Campus,” next to global innovation centers such as the SAP Innovation Center and the Volkswagen Group Future Center. Potsdam is about 25 minutes from Berlin and was selected as one of Germany’s official digital hubs. It brings together companies such as SAP, Oracle, and Volkswagen, creating a strong environment for technology, innovation, and future-oriented careers.

Foundation option
For those who are not yet fully ready to start the Bachelor program, UE offers a Foundation Diploma.
This option helps improve academic and language preparation, and build the base needed for a business and data-oriented degree.
We should point out that if you choose a combined “Foundation + Undergraduate” pathway, the tuition paid for one semester of the Foundation Diploma is later credited toward the final semester of the Bachelor degree. In practice, this means the foundation semester does not represent an additional cost.
