Proof of funds increased for international students who wish to study in Germany

For all student visa applications submitted from September 1, applicants will be required to transfer €10,236 into a blocked account, an increase from the current requirement of €8,640.
The blocked account is the most common means for international students for demonstrating that they have sufficient credit balances to cover the costs for the duration of their planned stay in Germany.
