An estimated €180 million in funding will be provided by the Hungarian government to support some 90,000 of the country’s students when they travel to the UK, Ireland, Malta, Germany, Austria, France and China this summer to take part in two-week language courses.
Each student will be awarded €2,000, meaning the government will provide around €180m in funding. However, the total funding could exceed that figure significantly as exact numbers are still unknown and as many as 140,000 students are eligible for the scheme.

The UK’s Home Office has announced a new post-Brexit immigration system that will place European students under the same rules as non-EU counterparts and introduce a points-based system for skilled work and student visas.
In the initial outline of the new system – due to take effect from 1 January 2021 – the government has also said the EU citizens will be treated as non-visa nationals, and that the use of ID cards for entry by European citizens will be phased out. READ MORE
One important point that is often overlooked when comparing study options in Germany is the overall timeline.
While public universities may appear less expensive at first, many international students cannot enter them directly. If their school-leaving qualification is not considered equivalent for direct admission, they may first need to complete a Studienkolleg or another preparation pathway, usually combined with higher German language requirements. This makes the route longer and often delays entry into the job market; in practice, the full path to graduation can take around 4–5 years for many international students.
At private universities such as UE, students can usually start directly and complete a Bachelor’s degree in 3 years, entering the job market earlier and starting to earn sooner.
