Sunday, May 9, 2021

at 20:30 Central European Time (CET); for your local time click here

The first webinar in the series will be delivered on Sunday, May 9, with the topic: How can Coaching in Education help? During this web event Rachel Paling will talk about what coaching is, distinguishing the sports coach from the business life coach, and then how these professional skills can leverage the learning process. We will explore the competences of a coach, such as active listening and powerful questions, and explain how these can transform and develop coaching conversations.

Coaching also follows a structure that can be introduced into learning, creating powerful focus into specific goals, with specific actions and for a definite time period.

Finally we will touch upon the ethics and standards of the professional coaching world and how these can also be brought into learning

Rachel Paling,  Creator of Neurolanguage Coaching

Looking at “coaching”, we have seen a phenomenal development of this profession over the last ten years, progressing from the sports arena into the business arena of corporates and enterprises. In this day and age we can find coaching for almost anything ranging from “life coaching” to “business coaching” even to “health coaching”. So what could be described as the inherent characteristics of coaching in education? The coaching style already signifies a more active role for the coachee and more active learning. The empathy of the coach towards the coachee is essential, as well as the ability of the coach to adapt to the coachee and the coachee´s way of learning, tailor-making and suiting everything to the coachee. Continuous feedback and acknowledgement create an excellent learning environment and accountability of the process, keeps both coach and coachee committed. The coach and coachee both have equal status, but in this case the coachee really assumes ownership of his/her learning and the learning process, as well as taking the responsibility to learn.
